Going solo

Some music sounds like nothing else. There are artists / bands that have a specific sonic quality unique to them. Think Dylan's voice or Jimi Hendrix's guitar sound.

In some cases, it's just the result of how an artist / band sounds; in others, it's a choice of direction. So, for April, we're celebrating such individualism and boldness in music.

Here, we featured a series of albums celebrated for their audio quality. Titles included:

Curtis Mayfield - Curtis

Aretha Franklin - I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You

Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

Neil Young - Harvest Moon

Members received our pairing from the month's selections, while those who opted for the vinyl and wine (Stylus Experience) package received a delicious malbec.

Here, we focused on those albums that have a "cinematic" quality. They ooze silver screen magic and have a flair for the dramatic. Titles included:

Arcade Fire - Neon Bible

Dr. Dre - 2001

Nirvana - MTV Unplugged

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories

Marvin Gaye - What's Going On

For our last official box of summer, we celebrated those albums that marked the end of an era for an artist / band. Titles included:

Amy Winehouse - Back to Black

Nirvana - In Utero

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication

The Beatles - Abbey Road

Stone Roses - Second Coming
